The Process
Step 1: Sign up for one of the three levels of course support.
Choose which level of support you would like (tier I, tier II, tier III). We offer different course packages to support our learners. If you already have some experience and basic wax carving tools, the basic course (tier III) is a good place to start. Need more help? Try our intensive support course which includes one consult to make sure you are on the right track.
Step 3: Practice and perfect your skills through our online course.
We will send you the course access codes along with your rental toolkit and waxes. The initial phase of the course focuses on both technique and design evaluation. Learners can expect to practice a number of techniques that will make the carving experience accessible. Learners will also become experts at determining what makes for a strong ring design.
Step 5: Apply your learning and design skills to finalize your ring.
In this portion of the course, you will have the opportunity to dive deep into carving your original design. The course material will review previous techniques and address potential challenges and opportunities, allowing you to see your vision emerge. Once you are finished, mail your final wax and toolkit back to us.
Step 2: Receive your template waxes and rental tool kit
Once you have paid for the Ring Design and Carving Course, we will process your order and send you your blank ring waxes (ready for your design!) as well as the tool kit (for Tier I and Tier II packages). You can expect to get started in 7-10 business days from the time you register.
Step 4: Analyze and refine your final ring design
Our design-focused approach will help you come up with a variety of ideas for ring, even if you're not sure what you want yet. You'll have the opportunity to analyze the designs of others and create a unique ring that you can be proud of.
Step 6: Receive your ring in metal
Once we receive your (carefully packed) wax ring, we will proceed with the casting and finishing process. You can expect to get your ring returned in sterling silver in 10-14 business days.
